Each class in this unique companion course will focus on the repertoire of the Symphony’s next Masterworks concert performance and feature a special guest with a critical role in the performance. Guests will include Music Director Valentina Peleggi, Associate Conductor Chia-Hsuan Lin, and many more! Through recordings, images, scholarship, biographies, backstage stories, and discussion we will listen and engage more deeply with the music and the artists who bring it to life.Each class is 60-75 Minutes long and will take place on Zoom.

This centennial celebration may just be the moment time catches up to Busoni.

Join Richmond Symphony Director of Education & Community Engagement Walter Bitner for this deep dive into the music of our Symphony Series for the 2023-24 Season. Each class in this unique companion course will focus on the repertoire of the Symphony’s next Masterworks concert performance and feature a special guest with a critical role in the performance. Guests will include Music Director Valentina Peleggi, Associate Conductor Chia-Hsuan Lin, and many more! Through recordings, images, scholarship, biographies, backstage stories, and discussion we will listen and engage more deeply with the music and the artists who bring it to life.Each class is 60-75 Minutes long and will take place on Zoom.
Required Technology: Computer, tablet, or smartphone with microphone/camera + internet access. A zoom link will be emailed to you 48 hours before the class.

Gershwin’s jazzy musical postcard highlights this program of the Americas. From South America, dazzling works by Revueltas, Ginastera, and Moncayo’s rousing Huapango. And from the States, Carlos Miguel Prieto conducts Leonard Bernstein’s dances from On the Town, plus Gershwin’s An American in Paris.
