Priya Ragu’s debut mixtape damnshestamil, was alight with music so vibrant, fluid and musically broad that it transcended the artist making it and took on a life of its own, finding love among a global community of fans and critics alike, who celebrated its “eruption of inventive, deftly executed ideas'' (NME) and “addictive pop energy” (The Telegraph). Ragu’s wholly unique approach, dubbed Raguwavy by the singer, is vast and dauntless, incorporating simmering and sun-dappled R&B, masterful pop hooks, earthy soulful vocals, hip-shaking dance beats, and the warm tabla rhythms, heart-swelling strings and spiralling melodics of Tamil music. “The mixtape really reflected the place that I was at emotionally and as a human being. It was a journey to get to know myself, to really listen to my intuition, to trust that, and take a leap of faith.”It was a journey a lifetime in the making. While Ragu was raised in the Swiss city of St Gallen, her parents were refugees of the Sri Lankan civil war, leaving the country in the 1980s. Despite their new home, they ensured that Ragu and her brother, producer Japhna Gold, were immersed in Tamil culture, hosting jam sessions at their home where everyone would sing Kollywood songs. She was also the singer in a band with her father, who played the tabla, and brother, who was on keys.
Despite this rich musical upbringing, Ragu’s parents didn’t quite understand her fiery ambition to pursue music as a career – in the tradition of Tamil culture, they wanted their daughter to get a good job and then get married. And so Ragu partitioned her life: in secret she practised at pop stardom and for her parents she got a job working for a Swiss airline. In 2017, however, Ragu up-ended her life and relocated to New York for six months where she began working with her brother, who was still in Switzerland, on music. That would ultimately lead to the creation of damnshestamil.
Ragu documents all this on her effusive, assured and dynamic debut album, SANTHOSAM. Meaning “happiness” in Tamil, the record was crafted once again in collaboration with Ragu’s brother Japhna Gold and buzzes with the pair’s faultless and electric fusion of Tamil and Western influences. SANTHOSAM, however, elevates the Raguwavy sound with even bolder and adventurous references, swaggering braggadocio, gorgeous and varied musical textures, triumphant disco bangers, urgent and purposive political themes, and Ragu’s contagious positive spirit.

“I’ve spent most of my life trying to escape the sound of the electric guitar,” says Steve Marion. That’s a rather surprising confession considering that, under the name Delicate Steve, Marion has spent the better part of the last decade establishing himself as one of the most wildly innovative and widely revered players in the game. He’s recorded with Paul Simon, been sampled by Kanye West, toured in the Black Keys, and released four critically acclaimed albums of genre-bending instrumental music. He’s your favorite musician’s favorite musician, a virtuoso songwriter, producer, and performer who occupies a lane entirely his own in the modern indie landscape, but he’s never liked the sound of the electric guitar? “I’ve tried everything under the sun to get away from it,” he explains. “Until now.”Written and recorded on a 1966 Fender Stratocaster that reignited his love for the instrument, Delicate Steve’s captivating new album, After Hours, marks a first for Marion, an earnest, easygoing collection that revels in the simple joys of plugging in and playing. The songs are sweet and breezy here, pairing vintage soul grooves with mesmerizing, wordless melodies, and Marion’s production work is suitably subtle and restrained, stepping back in all the right places to let the album’s masterful performances speak for themselves. In another first, Marion teamed up with outside musicians on the record, bringing in a group of all-star players including renowned bassist Shahzad Ismaily (Yoko Ono, Marc Ribot) and famed Brazilian percussionist Mauro Refosco (David Byrne, Atoms For Peace) to help flesh out the arrangements and stretch his sonic boundaries. The result is Marion’s warmest, most magnetic work to date, an inviting, immediately accessible album that manages to balance thoughtful introspection and carefree bliss in equal measure.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Marion first came to widespread attention with the release of Wondervisions, his 2011 debut under the Delicate Steve moniker. The New York Times raved that the album “slyly eludes generalizations,” while NPR hailed it as “the year’s most epic sun-bleached back porch jam session,” and Mojo proclaimed that “whether this is post rock, space rock or ad hoc it’s hard to say, but who needs taxonomy when music feels this good?” Delicate Steve’s 2012 follow-up, Positive Force, was met with similar acclaim, with Pitchfork declaring that “Marion is one of those rare guitarists whose instrument sings in the place of vocals.” In the years that followed, Marion would go on to release two more highly lauded studio albums; record with the likes of Paul Simon, Amen Dunes, and Sondre Lerche; perform live with Yeasayer, Mac DeMarco, Built To Spill, Dr. Dog, and Tune-Yards among others; have his songs sampled by Kanye West not once, but twice; and join the Black Keys on the road as a touring guitarist in support of 2019’s Let’s Rock. If that all sounds like a lot for one man, that’s because it was, and by the time 2020 rolled around, Marion needed to step away from the noise.

Mary Timony
For more than 30 years, singer-songwriter and guitar hero Mary Timony has cut a distinctive path through the world of independent music, most recently as vocalist and guitarist of acclaimed garage-pop power trio Ex Hex (Merge) but also as a member of seminal post-punk band Autoclave (Dischord), celebrated leader of the deeply influential Helium (Matador), multifaceted solo artist (Matador, Lookout!, Kill Rock Stars), and a co-founder of supergroup Wild Flag (Merge). Described by Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein as “Mary Shelley with a guitar” and dubbed “a trailblazer and an innovator” by [Mary’s former guitar student] Lindsey Jordan a.k.a. Snail Mail, Timony has distinguished herself as one of her generation’s most influential guitarists and songwriters. Although she has remained a cult hero and critical favorite since the early ’90s, appearing everywhere from 120 Minutes episodes to Coachella sets, Timony’s many triumphs have long been counterbalanced by crippling doubt and self-nullification.
Her fifth solo album, Untame the Tiger, approaches these emotions head on. Her first solo release in 15 years is a startling document of an artist fully coming into her own power during the fourth decade of her career. It is the product of lessons learned during life-altering struggle. The mystical, acoustic-driven Untame the Tiger emerged after the dissolution of a long-term relationship and was bookended by the deaths of Timony’s father and mother. The album was recorded during a two-year period during which she was the primary caregiver for her ailing parents. “This was the hardest thing I’ve been through. Every week I had to manage a new crisis.”
Rosali
Philadelphia-based artist Rosali makes songs that take their time in revealing their full power. What might first appear to be restrained, introspective compositions will stretch slowly outward, snagging your attention with a subtly sideways guitar lead or an exceptionally raw lyric you didn’t catch the first time around. A child of two musicians, Rosali grew up as part of a large family that sang together and taught themselves various instruments, finding the earliest forms of her musical voice harmonizing and making up songs with her sisters. As an adult, Rosali merged this musical upbringing with an active involvement in Philly’s experimental and D.I.Y. community. Her 2016 solo debut Out of Love was released on Siltbreeze, a long-running label that champions abstract noise and challenging listening. While Rosali’s earliest work was far nearer to folk-informed rock than harsh sonics, it held an intensity of its own in its strange angles and unexpected vulnerability. Second album Trouble Anyway expanded on the debut with clearer production and more involved arrangements. A host of friends from Philly’s freak scene contributed to the album, including appearances from ambient harpist/pianist Mary Lattimore, Purling Hiss/Birds of Maya shredder Mike Polizze, glistening lap-steel from Mike Sobel, understated percussion from War On Drugs drummer Charlie Hall, and several others.

After a multi-year hiatus, the indie pop maestros, Wild Party, are set to release a new full-length album in 2023. After releasing their debut record, Phantom Pop, in October of 2014, the band toured extensively during the following year and a half before finally calling it quits at the end of 2015.“We played probably 100 shows in 2014 and 2015… but there weren’t a lot of people at the shows who knew the music, and we weren’t making a lot of money…things just weren’t working out,” frontman Lincoln Kreifels recalls. Family and financial obligations meant taking the focus away from music for a while.
While Phantom Pop’s infectious melodies and danceable grooves never found a home with a larger market in 2015, the band’s nearly decade-old release has recently found a new, devoted fan base online. “The Spotify algorithm seemed to suggest us to a lot of new fans who were listening to bands that sounded similar to us, and things really began to take off around 2018.” To date, the band has hundreds of millions of streams and a half a million monthly listeners on Spotify alone.
A newly found fan-base reinvigorated Kreifels and long-time collaborator Lucas Hughes, and they began demoing songs again in 2018. However, it wasn’t until a close call gave Kreifels what he describes as a re-awakening: “I got really sick about 9 about months ago, and it was almost a miraculous healing… I went from almost dying––my liver almost failed… but I came out of that floating almost, really thankful to be given another chance… music is something I need to pursue.”

Remo Drive
To find their muse again, REMO DRIVE went back to where it all began: their parents’ basement. It had been a long time coming for the Paulson brothers – Erik (vocals, guitar) and Stephen (bass) – who formed Remo Drive in Bloomington, Minnesota, in 2013 and have since captivated audiences around the world with an earnest, idiosyncratic brand of indie-rock and two highly lauded albums: 2017’s Greatest Hits and 2019’s Natural, Everyday Degradation.
When the Paulsons stumbled across a Tascam recording desk on Facebook Marketplace in 2019, they thought it might make a nice starting point to demo songs for their then-forthcoming third LP. But $250 and a few weeks later, they found themselves fully entrenched in making the actual album itself. Not only that, but the safety and security of their parents’ home provided a welcome respite for the brothers, who have learned they’re most creative without a ticking clock and prying eyes peeking over their shoulders.
“Our workflow is naturally different from what most producers and studios like to do,” Erik explains. “We take things in our own weird approach and order. There’s a sense of privacy working at home. It doesn’t feel like you’re working with the door open during the incubation process.”
The resulting album, A PORTRAIT OF AN UGLY MAN (due out June 26 on Epitaph) finds the band truly in their element – both physically and sonically. Whereas the Paulsons filtered their buoyant songwriting through the concise lens of storytellers like Bruce Springsteen and The Killers on Natural, Everyday Degradation, LP3 is more spontaneous, awash in the same sort of acrobatic guitar arrangements and levity that made Greatest Hits such an underground favorite.
wilt
In the year since releasing their debut single, “gwen,” wilt has gone from relative obscurity to one of the buzzier bands coming out of Los Angeles. With more than
110 million combined views on lnstagram and TikTok to date, the indie-rockers, which include lead vocalist Chelsea Rifkin; guitarists Aaron Liebman and Andrew Vance; bassist Jake Shpiner; and drummer Dan Bermudez, have built a fanbase so devoted, they can no longer self-deprecatingly call themselves “your favorite band you’ve never heard of.”wilt is just getting started, and 2024 promises to be a breakout year for the band with more singles on the way, the release of a debut EP, appearances at SXSW and tour dates scheduled across the U.S.
Jeopardy Blue
Jeopardy Blue is an indie rock band from Portland Oregon. Members consisting of Seth Doray, Jake Nassario, Logan Hazen and Max Brockbank. Formed in 2018 with goals to create music emitting positivity and high energy. Having garage/rock and Indie/pop influences, Jeopardy Blue continues to write music that gives homage to their roots in hopes to inspire others to do the same.

TORRES — aka Mackenzie Scott — presents “I got the fear,” her new single/video from her forthcoming album, What an enormous room, out January 26th on Merge. Produced by Scott and Sarah Jaffe, “I got the fear” begins with a sparse, programmed drum beat before the howl of a lone electric guitar dris in. A stark contrast to lyrics that explore anxiety and depression, “I got the fear” is anchored by Scottʼs assured vocals. “The dread doesnʼt pay any rent money,” she sings, “but as long as it doesnʼt get ahold of my honey, I think Iʼll be alright.” The accompanying “I got the fear” video is helmed by Dani Okon, who also directed the video for lead single “Collect,” an “unforgiving, hammer of a revenge song” (NYLON).
Of “I got the fear,” Scott says: “A collective dread has been mounting. Everyone I know is having a brawl with the universe, with themselves...wars, climate catastrophe, a pandemic, the worldwide regression on human rights, the political hellscape — it affects everybody, and I know weʼre all feeling it in waves of varying degree all the time. I think itʼs really important that we find a way to get our hopes back up. Iʼm here to try to help light the way if I can. Most days I really believe humanity will find a way. But thereʼs a nagging anxiety that maybe that wonʼt happen. One has to wonder if itʼs a self-fulfilling prophecy that a species that believes itʼs doomed will doom itself.”
TORRESʼ career spans a decade, six studio albums, countless one-offs, tours, articles, and conversations, each marked by a dedication to creation that treats the ongoing act itself with as much preciousness as what is le in the record. To quote Julien Baker, who penned the albumʼs bio, directly: “What I can say about TORRES is I think the music comes from a convicted place. [...] And I think itʼs just incredibly good music to listen to.” Baker continues, writing, “If TORRESʼ music gets weird, gets brainy, gets funny, gets defiant, provokes, deliberately scandalizes, employs the crass to undermine the austere, courts loy philosophical truth — itʼs all done with the conviction of an artist with the (essential) belief in the worth of their task.”
Next year, TORRES will embark on a US/EU/UK tour, beginning with a US run that includes stops in Chicago, New York, Washington, DC and more, followed by a stint overseas as well as a second US leg. A full list of tour dates is below, and tickets are on sale now.

“Guided by life experiences, Lindsay Lou's sound and songwriting continues to evolve and intertwine her sturdy Bluegrass roots with progressive Americana and Folk.” – PBS“I saw a literal manifestation of the sacred feminine, and had this profound sense that I was meant to embody it,” recalls celebrated singer-songwriter Lindsay Lou after journeying through a hallucinogenic ritual that would inform the way she processed waves of grief in the sea of change ahead of her. The loss of her grandmother, the end of her marriage, and the overwhelming turmoil of COVID lockdowns found the Nashville-based artist on a spiritual journey of self-knowledge and healing with this gift from the mystic swirl. On her new album Queen of Time (due September 29th from Kill Rock Stars), Lou explores that quest across ten tracks of tender, heartbreakingly beautiful music.
With this new vision of womanhood in mind, Lou began to see a throughline from her grandmother, to herself, to the art she was creating. Her 2018 release, Southland (recorded with her former band, The Flatbellys), felt like the first chapter to a greater story that was unfolding; with this release, the theme deepened. “It started with my grandma. She was the unattainable woman in a way,” Lou explains. “She had 12 kids and ran homeless shelters and was always taking people in. She felt that her calling was to be a mother to everyone – this communal caregiver – but it also meant that in belonging to everyone, she also belonged to no one. I realized that this is the catch-22 of anyone who is a woman unto herself. Women, first and foremost, belong to themselves, so nobody can really have them; but, there's also this element of self-sacrificing and giving to the idea of the feminine.”
Lou’s vocals are a powerful companion to her songwriting. “In an era when style and trends can become genericana, [Lou] focuses on the song,” said No Depression. “It is infectious and joyful, soulful even.” The undeniable centerpiece throughout Queen of Time, Lou’s voice is a molasses-sweet instrument equally capable of clarion ache, slicing deep into the soul. The daughter of a literal coal-miner and millwright, and the granddaughter of a teacher gone Rainbow Gathering healer, Lou honed her honest and resonant style with her bluegrass-inspired band, Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys, and Michigan supergroup, Sweet Water Warblers (Rachael Davis, May Erlewine), excavating elements of bluegrass, folk, Americana, and soulful pop for their emotional depths. The Warblers’ debut album, The Dream That Holds This Child (2020), was dubbed “a testament to the trio’s range” by Billboard, running the gamut of blues, gospel, soul, and Appalachian folk.

Jarle Bernhoft has a new album coming out in 2023, a fact that surprises the man himself. The Norwegian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist intended to have a break from recording this year. Now, he finds himself reaching back out to the world with new music and a new outlook, propelling himself back to a global stage with a renewed ambition. Youmay have first come across a young Jarle as lead singer of rock power quartet Span. Hel ived in North London where he enjoyed critical acclaim and a cult following. After they disbanded in 2005, he went solo, and soul, as Bernhoft. He employed live looping techniques, using a loop pedal to layer his vocals and instrumental parts, creating intricate and dynamic arrangements. The single "C'mon Talk," became a viral sensation showcasing this, earning Bernhoft millions of views on YouTube and introducing him to a global audience. This culminated in the international success of‘Islander’(2014), an album that explored themes of identity and self-discovery, blending elements of folk, pop, and R&B.The album received critical acclaim and further solidified Bernhoft's reputation as a musical innovator. He became the first non-American to be nominated for the Best R&B AlbumGrammy. His profile swelled with appearances on the Conan O’Brien and Ellen De Generes shows, he was about to embark on a huge US tour and then, as far as the rest of the world was concerned, he disappeared.“I lived in New York City for two years. Then my manager died,” he explains of his close friend who was his partner throughout his career, “My ambitions have always been more about music and less about success. He took my music and was ambitious. He had the brains, I had the music.

w/ Ghostwoman
When times are tough, or you’re feeling worn down, you start longing for a life of total peace. A lifewhere there are no fights, arguments or lies; where there is no such thing as disappointment and youractions have no consequences. Some might call it a“fantasy world”. Genre-jumping Belgian trioBrutus call it the “Unison Life”–a phrase that titles their third studio album.Unison Lifeis about all thestuff that wears you down in the first place. It’s the ugliness, the pain, and the acts of bravery that getyou through it all. Beginning with a portrait of contentment and unravelling from there, the album goesinto battle and asks what really counts. In their own words:“Is this Unison Life a hoax? Or a quest?”
Since their formation in 2014, Brutus have made a name for themselves with their restless, emotionally raw rock that traverses the landscape of metal, punk, post-hardcore and beyond–often inthe same song. The three members first met in their hometown of Leuven, where they cut their teethplaying in different local bands. Their influences are wide and varied. Drummer/vocalist StefanieMannaerts–who grew up above a music shop run by her family–is into a variety of genres frompost-metal to electronic music. Bassist Peter Mulders is more of apunk guy, while guitarist StijnVanhoegaerden is into country and more melodic rock. Their diverse tastes come together throughBrutus to create a sound that’s as heavy as it is unexpected, full of beauty and surprises.
From their 2017 debut albumBurst,to 2019’sNest, to releasing a May 2019 performance at theirhometown venue Handelsbeurs Concert Hall as a live album during the pandemic, Brutus has levelledup at every turn. However, it wasn’t untilUnison Lifethat Brutus had the time and space to reallyconsider their direction. “I wanted every song to feel like the last song we’ll ever write,” Mannaertsexplains.“It killed me inside because it’s almost an impossibly high standard, but that was mypersonal goal for this album. It was a two-year questof trying to do better, and I’m very proud of whatwe’ve done together.”
Brutus worked onUnison Lifefor a year and a half, though most of that time was spent hanging out. When they weren’t stuck at home in quarantine they were holed up in their rehearsal space in Ghent, making the most of the free time afforded to them by the pandemic by experimenting, tradinginfluences, talking and cooking together.Between writing sessions, they scoured second-handwebsites for different things–a lot of amps, guitars, basses, a bass synth, effects pedals, even somechimes–to play with.“There was always something new we tried. Not because the song asked for it,or for the sake of it, but because we were experimenting,” says Mulders. “I don't know how this albumwould have sounded if we had to write it between tours and didn’t have as much time to experimentwith the songs.”
Please note, when selecting the Print at Home or Mobile Delivery method, you will not have access to view your tickets until 14 days prior to the performance.

w/ Les Gold & Molter
Tango Alpha Tango
Comprised of and founded by husband-and-wife duo, Nathan Trueb and Mirabai Carter, Tango Alpha Tango has wowed crowds from summer festivals (leaping from amplifiers in celebration) to the nearly 400,000 fans who’ve streamed the band’s 2014 live in-studio set for the famed Seattle radio station, KEXP 90.3 FM, inducing grins from their signature oomph. The band celebrates the release of a brand new single entitled, "Enemy" and it might be their most punishing and vindictive offering yet. This latest song comes off of the heels of the band's 2020 release, "You'll Be Something" which gave us an introspective look into the band's darker and more emotional side through their first music video. Come hear the latest from the band with their legendary live set that has even seen Trueb climbing from the stage to the balcony with his guitar slung on his back. It seems no stage is big enough for Tango Alpha Tango's raucous sound.
Les Gold
Portland indie rock outfit Les Gold was founded by frontman Jenson Tuomi and guitarist Tim Kaye, and consists of bassist Jake Jarvis, drummer Alexander Geiszler, and lead guitarist Pete Abraham. The band has cultivated a sound that mixes homegrown Northwest indie rock with elements of folk rock, dream pop, desert rock, surf, and other influences. Les Gold showcases catchy, poppy melodies and tones layered over unique vocal harmonies and often macabre lyrics – crafting a sound that’s been described as ‘gloom disco’ and ‘bummer fun’.
Since releasing their first EP ‘ More Silver’ in late 2018, Les Gold has toured the west coast, opened for major artists like Young The Giant, Deep Sea Diver, Horse Feathers, Hot Flash Heatwave, and more while expanding their reach to hundreds of thousands of listeners across North America and Europe. As the band has grown and developed their sound, they’ve stayed true to their roots and remained pioneers of the ‘bummer fun’ genre. With a strong cast and sponsorships from local legends like Benson Amps, 64 Audio, and Secret Aardvark Hot Sauce, the band has continued to grow in popularity – releasing their Sophomore EP ‘The Gloom Room’ in late 2021 and receiving immediate acclaim from major outlets like Earmilk, Under the Radar, Portland Monthly, and more. In 2023, Les Gold prepares to release their debut album.
Molter
Molter is the brainchild of Chris Benson and Dan Phelps, two persons much inspired by the fuzz and laziness of Dinosaur Jr. and the casual dissonance of Sonic Youth. Molter forces upon their music a heavy dose of 90s nostalgia and a sardonic wit that can potentially keep audiences from going outside to vape.
Together, Chris and Dan form a powerhouse collaboration that side hugs multiple flavors of alt rock but isn’t really looking for a relationship.Come Molt with Us.

HELMS ALEE
YOUNG WIDOWS
SIMPLE FORMS
EAGLE CLAWPallbearer
Pallbearer navigate the space between disquiet and serenity with a singular intensity. At times poetic and blistering, their music is a heartfelt meditation on isolation, trauma and mental breakdown, framed by the possibility of redemption and the quiet, aching beauty of escape.Their songs provide a singular perspective into the pain that lies at the heart of everyday experience, the musical intersection where struggle collides with the will to carry on.
Helms Alee
Seattle three-piece Helms Alee has announced a new album Keep This Be The Way available April 29th via Sargent House. Across the span of their first five studio albums, the trio zeroed in on different aspects of their sound - a blend of lilting siren songs, crushing Northwest thunder and sludge, angular econo-rock, and heady guitar popwhile retaining their no-frills, meat-and-potatoes approach in the studio. But with this Helms Alee expanded have their palette by delving into the production possibilities afforded by recording the album themselves, creating their most dynamic and technicolored work to date. This new approach is immediately evident on first single and album opener “See Sights Smell Smells,” where reverse cymbal crashes, fragmented piano, layered drums, woozy drones, saxophone freak-outs, and trippy vocal treatments transport the listener to an altered state of exhilarated anticipation. The song is accompanied by a video created by Allen Watke whose video art consists primarily of analog equipment with an emphasis on VHS dubbing, glitching & manipulation.
