PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

“Hey baby, do you wanna take a trip with me? / I’ve got a feeling there might be a silver lining all around.” So begins One Day, the captivating new album from critically acclaimed Minneapolis duo The Cactus Blossoms. Written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic, the record explores the tension between optimism and despair that’s defined much of the past few years of American life, examining the power (or naïveté, depending on your perspective) of positive thinking in the face of chaos and uncertainty. The songs here are tender and timeless, with straightforward arrangements centered around brothers Jack Torrey and Page Burkum’s airtight harmonies, and the performances are warm and intimate to match, delivered with a soulful, ’70s-inspired palette of playful Wurlitzer, breezy guitars, and muscular percussion.

The Cactus Blossoms broke out nationally in 2016 with their JD McPherson-produced debut, You’re Dreaming. Dates with Kacey Musgraves, Jenny Lewis, and Lucius followed, as did raves from the New York Times and NPR, who praised “the brothers’ extraordinary singing.” The band was further catapulted into the spotlight in 2018, when David Lynch tapped them to perform in the return of Twin Peaks, and continued to build on their success with their 2019 sophomore LP, Easy Way, which led Rolling Stone to laud the duo’s “rock-solid, freak of genetics harmonies.”

Singer/songwriter Alexa Rose combines the mountain music of her Allegheny homeland with folk, rock, country, and pop to put her unique stamp on American roots music. Emerging in 2013, she issued a pair of independent albums before inking a deal with Fat Possum imprint Big Legal Mess Records, resulting in 2019's lush and heartfelt Medicine for Living. Rose continued to explore diverging avenues of Americana on her dynamic 2021 sophomore effort Headwaters.

Ray Wylie Hubbard is the secret handshake amongst those who know. Earthy, real, funky, unabashed, his records have been swapped and played on the road by everyone from Blackberry Smoke and Georgia Satellites to Black Stone Cherry. “Snake Farm” alone could be the red-blooded touring male’s reality-based point of connection. That passion for the man who’s as much a renegade poet as a roadhouse saint brought together an eclectic mix of guests for Co-Starring, his first ever high-profile label release. Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh, the Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson, Ronnie Dunn, Don Was, Larkin Poe, Pam Tillis and The Cadillac Three were just a few who clamored to jam, sing and generally be in the studio with the wizened icon.

The Austin Music and Eric Church-inducted Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Famer was born in Soper, Oklahoma, went to high school with cosmic cowboy Michael Martin Murphey and spent his summers playing folk music in Red River, New Mexico. It all added to an iconoclastic, hell-bent for truths and textures in writing about the way outlaws live – and added to his outlier bona fides that he made 16 albums without ever signing to a major label.

A Northern Virginia native, Lauren Calve started out by attending the open mic nights and became known for her strong, soulful vocal style and skillful playing throughout the area. Seeing her perform, one thinks of Patty Griffin’s dynamic voice, Bonnie Raitt’s smoky aura, and Ben Harper’s unique slide style. She has become a mainstay at prominent local and regional venues and is honored to have opened for artists like Justin Townes Earle, Rhett Miller, Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek, Cruz Contreras of The Black Lillies, Charlie Worsham and Wade Bowen. Whether playing intimately by herself or with a rocking full band, Calve impresses audiences with her raw performances. She is in the process of completing a new album, recorded in Nashville and expected out in 2023.

"If I had to choose between ageism or sexism, I'd take a pat on the behind any day, since that meant someone noticed me.”
Carole Montgomery creator of Funny Women of A Certain Age

Funny Women (WOACA) was created to give older women comics a chance to be seen and heard. Frustrated with how women are portrayed on television once they hit 50, Carole decided to do something about it. She’s fighting ageism AND sexism one joke at a time. The women who appear in WOACA are all funny, vibrant and brilliant. They just happen to be of a certain age. These women paved the way for the female comics you see today.

The first TV special for the Showtime Network featured Fran Drescher, Carole Montgomery, Luenell, Lynne Koplitz, Vanessa Hollingshead and Kerri Louise. It premiered March 23, 2019, and made TV history as the first comedy special to feature 6 women over the age of 50.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

New Orleans brass band-meets-Mardi Gras Indian outfit Cha Wa radiates the energy of the city’s street culture. “My People,” the band’s follow up to their Grammy-nominated album “Spyboy,” feels like pure joy, a distillation of generations of New Orleans expression. But it also never fails to remind us how hard-won that joy was and still is: not least in the tense, funky and explosive title track, with its declaration “My people, we’re still here.”

“Mardi Gras Indian songs are inherently songs about freedom,” the band’s drummer Joe Gelini says. “And that struggle is as relevant today as it’s ever been.” Popmatters describes the band as "a grand gumbo of singing, intoxicating rhythms, and deep funk grooves that are impossible to resist.”

Crystal’s love for music developed at an early age, stemming from the need to find peace in a chaotic world. For her, music has always been the most effective form of catharsis. Crystal moved to Chicago, IL at 17 years old, where she spent her days performing underground on subway platforms between working odd jobs. While in Chicago, she broadened her musical horizons and shared her talents in a variety of venues, ultimately auditioning for the ninth season of American Idol. She has used her talents to benefit several causes close to her heart and has become an inspiration for people living with Type 1 Diabetes. Crystal draws upon her various influences to make the kind of music that resonates with her spirit. It is both tender and tough, rough yet polished, and encompasses many genres without falling neatly into only one. Her mission is to bring a positive message and healing to the world.

Even among the pantheon of music’s finest artists, Del McCoury stands alone. From the nascent sound of bluegrass that charmed hardscrabble hillbilly honkytonks, rural schoolhouse stages, and the crowning glory of the Grand Ole Opry to the present-day culture-buzz of viral videos and digital streams, Del is the living link. On primetime and late-night television talk shows, there is Del. From headlining sold-out concerts to music festivals of all genres, including one carrying his namesake, there is Del. Where audiences number in the tens of thousands, and admirers as diverse as country-rock icon Steve Earle and jamband royalty Phish count as two among hundreds, there is Del. Countless hours of recording sessions and miles of tireless touring dotted the decades. Del carried on, and carried with him the hallowed traditions of the form and its dedicated following. Now helming the Del McCoury Band with sons Ronnie and Rob, the ensemble did and continues to represent in a larger, growing musical community a peerless torchbearer for the entire sweep and scope of bluegrass history.

Over 25 years in comedy, Gary Gulman has established himself as an eminent performer and peerless writer. It’s no wonder the NewYorkTimes wrote, “Gary is finally being recognized as one of the country’s strongest comedians.”

A product of Boston, Gulman has been a scholarship college football player, an accountant, and a high school teacher. He has made countless television appearances as both a comedian and an actor and is one of only a handful of comedians to perform on every single late-night comedy program.Today, Gulman is one of the most popular touring comics, selling out theaters around the country. He is currently on his Born On 3rd Base Tour, in which he hilariously chronicles his impoverished childhood on food stamps, free lunch and welfare checks while skewering our current Tale of Two Cities-esque wealth gap. Few, if any comedians have addressed class so deftly and entertainingly. In November 2021, Gulman performed for the first time to a sold out crowd at Carnegie Hall in NewYork City. Gulman has made four masterful TV specials including his most recent universally acclaimed stand-up special for HBO,The Great Depresh. In 2019 he appeared in the international blockbuster Joker. He was most recently seen co-starring with Amy Schumer in the hit Hulu comedy series, Life & Beth.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

A man armed only with a banjo and a bass drum can be a formidable force, especially if his name is William Elliott Whitmore.  With his powerful voice and honest approach, Whitmore comes from the land, growing up on a family farm in Lee County, Iowa.  Whitmore has repeatedly carved his own path, honoring the longstanding tradition of folk music throughout his nearly 20 year career, while always allowing his blues, soul and punk rock influences to shine through. Getting his first break opening for his friend’s hardcore band with just a banjo in hand, he would discover bands like The Jesus Lizard, Bad Brains, Lungfish and Minutemen and soon learn to play his own brand of rural, roots music with that same DIY ethic. William Elliott Whitmore has been back and forth across the United States and to cities around the world. He’s toured with such diverse acts as Frank Turner, Trampled By Turtles, Clutch and Chris Cornell to name a few. He’s appeared on some of the biggest stages around the world including Stagecoach Fest, Byron Bluesfest (Australia) and End of the Road Fest (UK). His willingness to take his show to any playing field has proved invaluable as he turned strangers to diehards with every performance.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

Acclaimed alt-country artists Brent Cobb and Hayes Carll are set to hit the road for a co-headlining tour. The two celebrated songwriters are bringing something special to this run, as each artist will hit the stage to perform their own songs, before uniting for a one-of-a-kind collaborative concert.

For Cobb, the run signifies a chance to link up with one of his favorite musicians on the planet. “Hayes is everything a true artist/songwriter ought to be in my book. I’ve had the privilege of playing shows with him here and there over the years, but I’ve always hoped we’d be able to do something a little longer lasting. We’re gettin’ together to give ourselves as well as the crowds something that I believe we’ll all talk about for a while.” Carll concurs, adding, “Every time I listen to Brent, I'm reminded that there's still some groove, soul, and sanity in this world."

Cobb is touring in support of his January 2022 release, And Now, Let's Turn to Page..., which was made with legendary producer Dave Cobb in RCA Studio A in Nashville. Carll will be performing songs from his whole discography and, in particular, from 2021’s You Get It All, produced by Allison Moorer and guitar legend Kenny Greenberg.

Together, the duo will showcase their singular country styles before uniting to prove the unending power of collaboration.

These four guitar players are set on a mission to explore new galaxies of sound with a wide repertoire of original pieces and covers, which they perform in the fingerpicking technique and skillfully arranged for four guitars. Their musical treat based on the reinterpretation of a range of modern music classics, is equally at home in the styles of jazz and of Latin American music, creating a mesmerizing experience that brings the audience from popular movie scores to jazz, from Astor Piazzolla to the Beatles, from Eagles to Toto, from Dire Straits to Eric Clapton, all perfectly merged with their unique style and their original work and compositions.

After successfully releasing their music on the web, causing a sensation with the rearrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen which now counts more than 9 million views on YouTube, plus being highlighted by the official Queen website thanking them for creating such a lovely version of their famous tune, the passion that these four guitar players share for the world of film and film music has led them to a series of interesting covers of famous film scores, among which are the two key themes written by John Williams for Star Wars directed by George Lucas – the Main Theme and Imperial March medley.
