This dynamic presentation celebrates the amazing musical legacy of the late Aretha Franklin. While touring with Aretha Franklin, Damien Sneed developed a strong mentee relationship with the soul legend. Sneed pays homage to her in A Tribute to Aretha Franklin: The Queen of Soul with fresh renditions of her most cherished hits, including “How I Got Over,” “Respect,” “Say A Little Prayer,” and more. The performance features an accomplished cast of jazz, gospel, and soul artists including Valerie Simpson and Karen Clark Sheard. Valerie Simpson is half of Ashford & Simpson, an award-winning collaboration with her late husband Nick Ashford that began in the 1960s. Together they have penned such classic hits as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “I’m Every Woman,” “Solid,” and many others. Gospel music legend, Karen Clark Sheard is a four-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist renowned throughout the music industry for her one-of-a-kind multi-octave vocal range and ability.
