ABOUT THE ARTIST:
The Debutants bring impressive musicianship, earnest songwriting, and miles of melody to their own unique blend of bluegrass, soul, folk, rock, and Americana. While the group is string heavy and filled with some serious pickin’ power, this Fort Wayne-based ensemble locks into more of the Nickel Creek, Bela Fleck, and Punch Brothers vibes than straight country. Beneath each music track in the Debutants catalog is an earnestness that pulls you in immediately.
Founding band members Jon Swain and Lynn Nicholson can trace their friendship back to their teen years at Homestead High School. Both shared a love for bluegrass, but they didn’t feature it much on stage. The Debutants proved to be the platform they needed to finally take the plunge and find their voice. Today, the seven-member band’s sound veers between traditional and modern rock and roll style; an Indiana “newgrass” appealing to all kinds of ears.
