With special guest: Kainalu
"With their shared DNA and profound connection, the Mattson twins are unlike any band you've seen before." - Washington Post
"The twin-brother jazz duo are experts at channeling the sounds of light and ease, and there's something almost alchemical about their mutual precision." -Pitchfork
"While the two prove to be stellar songwriters, it's their extended jams and vibe-setting that make this such an enticing listen." -Noisey
The Mattson 2 are Jared and Jonathan Mattson, identical twins who have been collaborating almost literally from birth. They formed their psych-jazz group Mattson 2 in 2003, and released their first album, 'Introducing the Mattson 2', in 2009.
Their deep telepathic kinship navigates colorful forms of beautiful weirdness and exotic landscapes of layered improvisation, transcending the concept of modern musical performance. The duo shimmers and shakes with the soaring modern wizardry of Jared Mattson's untamed, layered guitars and Jonathan's tribal jazz hard-bop drumming.
'Paradise', their 8th record released in 2019, marks the first time that the brothers have added vocals and is a masterful piece of psych-jazz, conceptually elegant and thrilling it its execution.
